St George’s Cathedral, Southwark, formally the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St George, is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Southwark, which covers the London boroughs south of the Thames, the county of Kent and the Medway Unitary Authority.

Music
St George's Cathedral has a well-established musical tradition, with a diversity of styles represented at the different Masses, ranging from congregational hymns and Mass settings at the 10am Family Mass sung by the Cathedral Consort youth choir, through plainsong and polyphony at the 12pm Solemn Mass sung by the Cathedral Choir of choristers and lay clerks. There is also a Junior Choir for younger children and the Cathedral runs the Southwark Singing Programme.

The Legacy of Pope St John Paul II: H.E. Piotr Wilczek, Ambassador of Poland to the Court of St James

St George's Cathedral is honoured to welcome Piotr Wilczek, Ambassador of Poland to the Court of St James, as he addresses us on the legacy of Pope St John Paul II. One of the key events in the 175-year history of St George's was the late pontiff's visit on 28 May 1982 - an episode commemorated in the Cathedral's memorial window - and the Ambassador's lecture constitutes an opportunity to grow in knowledge and appreciation of the legacy of this world-changing saint.
