St George’s Cathedral, Southwark, formally the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St George, is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Southwark, which covers the London boroughs south of the Thames, the county of Kent and the Medway Unitary Authority.

Music
St George's Cathedral has a well-established musical tradition, with a diversity of styles represented at the different Masses, ranging from congregational hymns and Mass settings at the 10am Family Mass sung by the Cathedral Consort youth choir, through plainsong and polyphony at the 12pm Solemn Mass sung by the Cathedral Choir of choristers and lay clerks. There is also a Junior Choir for younger children and the Cathedral runs the Southwark Singing Programme.

Britten Sinfonia: Messiaen’s Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum

The Britten Sinfonia and the Choir of Merton College, Oxford, will be performing Messiaen’s Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum on Wednesday, 30 April at 7.30pm - Nicholas Daniel conducting.

Featuring the massed wind, brass and percussion players of Britten Sinfonia and Sinfonia Smith Square, this programme pivots around Messiaen’s rarely performed tribute to the dead of two World Wars. A £5 discount is available to our parishioners, use code STGEORGES:
