The Southwark Schools Singing Programme is looking to appoint a new Choral Director for the Kent area from April 2025 or sooner.

 

The Southwark Singing Programme is the schools singing programme of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark, part of the National Schools Singing Programme. The programme currently operates in 17 schools in Southwark, Lambeth, Greenwich and Lewisham, and is seeking to expand further in the coming months, with a deliberate focus on coastal Kent. 

Following expansion of the programme, we are seeking an inspirational musician to join our team of Choral Directors. We are looking for a highly self-motivated and enterprising individual, meticulous in planning and administration, who can deliver our vision for inspirational choral education across our diocesan schools.

Particulars

  • Reporting to: Director of Music and Diocesan Music Steering Group. 
  • Location: The role will involve working in three schools in the Kent area and directing or assisting at rehearsals for after-school choirs (one per working day), with additional administration time working form home. 
  • Hours: 7 hours per week, with potential to expand as more schools join the programme.
  • Salary: £6,000 (£30,000 FTE) 
  • This is an initial fixed term appointment for two years, commencing April 2025 or sooner by arrangement.
  • As this work involves regulated activity with children, this appointment is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure.
  • The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 28 February 2025. Auditions and interviews will take place in the week commencing 10 March.
