We are pleased to announce the installation of a new candle burning system, the St Killian’s Candle Burning System, at each of our shrines around the Cathedral.
St Killian’s is advertised as the ‘safest, cleanest, smokeless system in the world,’ and is already in place in several cathedrals around the country, including Westminster and Birmingham. The candles are made from 3 times refined paraffin and do not emit any potentially damaging smoke or soot. Once lit, the candle will burn for 60-90 minutes, after which it falls through a hole in the holder into a water bath, so is very safe. In addition, the candles do not use plastic or metal holders so are extremely environmentally friendly. We hope you will agree this is a welcome addition for the parishioners of St George’s.
