St George’s Cathedral, Southwark, formally the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St George, is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Southwark, which covers the London boroughs south of the Thames, the county of Kent and the Medway Unitary Authority.

Music
St George's Cathedral has a well-established musical tradition, with a diversity of styles represented at the different Masses, ranging from congregational hymns and Mass settings at the 10am Family Mass sung by the Cathedral Consort youth choir, through plainsong and polyphony at the 12pm Solemn Mass sung by the Cathedral Choir of choristers and lay clerks. There is also a Junior Choir for younger children and the Cathedral runs the Southwark Singing Programme.

Solemnity of the Dedication of St George’s Cathedral

The Solemnity of the Dedication of St George’s commemorates the original consecration of the Cathedral in 1894, and is an opportunity for us to gather as a parish community and give thanks to God for this house of prayer.

In addition to the usual weekday Masses, there will be an additional Solemn Mass at 6pm on Thursday 7 November.
