As Catholics we acknowledge our duty to worship Almighty God. One of the precepts of the Church (Church laws binding on Catholics) is that we attend Mass on Sundays and other holy days of obligation and refrain from work and activities which could impede the sanctification of those days.
During the heights of the pandemic, the Bishops of England & Wales released the faithful from the requirement to attend Mass on Sundays and other holy days of obligation. From Pentecost Sunday (5 June) the general requirement to attend Holy Mass in person is restored; in the words of the Bishops of England & Wales, “the reasons which have prevented Catholics from attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation no longer apply.”
