Since 1848, St George’s Cathedral has provided a beacon of light for Catholics in London and across the south-east of England. For well over a century and a half it has been the mother church for the Archdiocese of Southwark – now numbering 178 parishes – and the seat of our Archbishop.

St George’s is not just a building: it is a house of prayer and a place of worship for a wide and varied congregation. Some, like me, were born practically next door, while others have travelled halfway around the world to make their home here. We join together in the task of worshipping God and forming missionary disciples to go out and spread the Good News across our homes and communities.

Our cathedral offers Mass, opportunities for confession, a place for quiet prayer, a venue for joyful celebration, and comfort for those who grieve. I hope you will find this website useful in learning about all the rich offerings we hope to share.

Whether online or in person, you are most welcome here at St George’s Cathedral.
