Scaffolding

You will have noticed that there is scaffolding in the north aisle. This is to allow some exploratory work to be carried out on the aisle ceilings where plaster is crumbling and repairs may be needed to the supporting metal work. This should take no more than six weeks. Depending on what is discovered further work is likely later in the year or the beginning of next year on both the north and south Aisles.  We will keep you informed.

Friends of Cathedral Music Grant to St George’s Cathedral
Posted:
23 Jun 2017
We are delighted to announce that the Friends of Cathedral Music have decided to award St George’s Cathedral a grant of £15,000 towards the provision of new choir-stalls.
This is a particular cause for celebration, since it is the first time St George’s has ever received funding from the Friends of Cathedral Music, and it will make a major contribution to the overall cost. The new choir-stalls will greatly enhance the appearance of the chancel and will enable the Cathedral choirs to project their singing more effectively into the building.
Needless to say, we are extremely grateful to the Friends of Cathedral Music for this generous grant, and we look forward to the arrival of our new stalls during 2018.
There will be a formal presentation of the grant at the 11.30am Solemn Mass on Sunday 15 October.
