St George’s Day

Monday 23 April is the cathedral’s patronal feast.  In addition to the 7.30am and 12.30pm Masses there will be the Chapter Mass at 6.30pm celebrated by Archbishop Peter.  This will be followed by a reception in the Amigo Hall.  All parishioners and friends of the cathedral are warmly invited.

St George’s Festival

There are a number of events running organised by our friends at St George the Martyr, Borough. On Saturday 22 April there will be a procession from the cathedral to Borough starting at 2pm.  From 1pm there will be entertainment outside the cathedral.  Full details of the festival are available at the back of the cathedral.     

Rosary on the Coast

Pray the Rosary for the spiritual wellbeing, healing and unity of our nations. We will meet on the Southbank (in front of the Royal Festival Hall) at 3pm on Sunday 29 April 2018. A group will leave for the Southbank from outside the Cathedral at 2.30pm.

Diocesan Marriage Mass

If you are celebrating your 1st, 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th or 60th+ wedding anniversary this year and would like to attend this special Mass at the cathedral, contact
the cathedral office by 4 May on with your names, address, contact details and which anniversary. You will then receive an invitation to the Mass from the Archbishop. 

Waterloo Food Bank

Our local food bank has received a huge demand for food over the last few weeks and is running low of supplies. Please help by donating tinned and packaged food (no fresh produce) via the SVP baskets at the back of the cathedral.

A gentle reminder to parents that when they bring their children to Church they are responsible for their safety and welfare. Children should not be wandering about the Cathedral or the Amigo Hall unsupervised.

Director of Music - Norman Harper

Our Director of Music, Norman Harper, will be retiring from his post at the end of the year and we will shortly be advertising for a replacement. Norman has done a tremendous amount to develop the music at St George's for which we are extremely grateful. There will be an opportunity to formally thank Norman towards the end of the year.

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration will take place in the Day Chapel on Friday from 8am, ending with Benediction at 6pm. There will also be Adoration on Saturday morning from 10am until 12.15pm.

Pilgrimage to Lourdes

The annual Catholic Association pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 24 to 31 August and be led by Archbishop Peter.  Full details at the back of the cathedral.

St Vincent De Paul Group

We have a small but enthusiastic group of parishioners who work together to help those in need - the lonely and isolated or those who don't have enough food to eat or even a home to live in.  You could help this vital work by joining the parish SVP group and giving a little of your time to helping others.  Call 07716 533621 to find out more.

St George’s Cathedral Choirs CD

The CD recording produced by our Cathedral Choirs is now available. Entitled: “O Sacrum Convivium - Music for the Mass”, it features our Girls’ Choir, Boys’ Choir, Choral Scholars and Lay Clerks.  It costs £12 per CD.  The CDs are available to buy in the repository after the 10am and 11.30am Masses, where payment is accepted by cash and cheque.  The CDs can also be ordered online using a credit or debit card by clicking here:

Adoremus - Eucharist in the Life of the Church: Liverpool 7-9 September 2018

The bishops of England and Wales will hold a National Eucharistic Pilgrimage and Congress in Liverpool on 7-9 September.  The purpose of it is to promote an awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Church.  Although only a small number from the diocese will be able to attend it is hoped that many will be involved through preparation and post congress events.  More details are at the back of the cathedral.
