Joint Lutheran-Catholic Commemoration of the Reformation

This Sunday 26 March, at 3pm in St George’s Cathedral, Archbishop Bernard Longley  of Birmingham and Bishop Martin Lind, Bishop of the Lutheran Church  in Great Britain, will jointly lead a Service of Common Prayer to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant  Reformation.
The service will express  thanksgiving  for the one Gospel we share, repentance for the sadness of our divisions as Christians and commitment to joint witness to a wounded and broken world.  Following the service  there will be a Reception in the Amigo Hall. All are welcome.

Advance Notice - Sound System

The first stage of improvements to the sound system will take place during the week of 3 April.  As the sound system will not be working during this period, all weekday Masses will be in the Day Chapel. 

Easter Flowers Retiring Collection

There will be retiring collections on 26 March and 2 April Sunday towards the cost of Easter flowers.

During Lent:

There will be Mass at 6pm, Monday to Friday, in addition to the 7.30am and 12.30pm Masses.  There will also be Stations of the Cross every Sunday in Lent at 5pm.  If you don’t often come to weekday Mass why not make a special effort to do so during Lent.

Pastoral Letter for Lent

A pastoral letter was read at all Masses last Sunday (26 Feb) from Archbishop Peter. The letter is to help prepare ourselves for Lent and copies are available at the back of the cathededral

Daily Reflections for Lent

Eucharistic Adoration (Lent update)

During Lent Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will usually take place in the Day Chapel every Friday from 8am, ending with simple Benediction at 5.45pm, before the 6pm Mass; and on Saturday mornings from 10am until 12.15pm.

SVP Appeal – Lent Project

During Lent the SVP is running a specific appeal for toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, nappies etc) which are in short supply and particularly needed. If you are giving up something for Lent why not use some of the money saved to buy toileteries to help those locally who are in need?

Catholic Prayer Ministry (CPM)
