Rest in Peace

Of your charity please prayer for the repose of the soul of Maureen Scammell, a long standing parishioner, who died on Palm Sunday. Please also remember her family at this difficult time. Maureen’s funeral will be in St George’s Cathedral at 10.30am on Tuesday 21 May.

Diocesan Celebration of Marriage

If you are celebrating a special wedding anniversary this year you are invited to  the cathedral for a Mass celebrated by the Archbishop, followed by refreshments, on Saturday 13 July at 3pm.
Places are limited so please register directly by emailing You will need to supply your full names, address, phone number, parish and the special anniversary you are celebrating this year: anyone celebrating their 1st, 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th or 60+ qualifies.  
You will then receive a personal invitation from Archbishop Peter. Close family are welcome  to come with you. The closing date for applications is 10 June.

Secondary School Applications for September 2020

If you have a child who will be starting secondary school in September 2020 please make sure you complete one of the purple forms at the back of the cathedral. The priests will be asked to provide a reference stating that you are a regular member of the congregation so please do two things to help us: 1) Make sure you complete and return one of the forms 2) Make sure you introduce yourselves to the priests. We will only sign the school reference form if we know you.

Seminary Student

Dermott O’Gorman, a student for the priesthood studying at St. John’s Seminary, will be spending a few weeks at the cathedral from 25 May.  He will mainly be working at St Thomas’  Hospital but will also be involved in some parish activities.

Eucharistic Adoration

Pilgrimage to Lindisfarne

Pilgrimage to  Lindisfarne for young Adults (20s and 30s) from Wednesday 24 April to Sunday 28 April 2019.  A time to walk along part of St. Cuthbert’s way, reflect and pray with other young adults and spend time on the beautiful island of Lindisfarne. Accommodation is in a basic bunkhouse near St Cuthbert's cave.

Ecumenical Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

On 3-10 March 2020 Southwark Cathedral and St George's Cathedral will make a joint pilgrimage to the Holy Land. It will be led by Bishop Paul Hendricks and the Anglican Bishop of Southwark, Bishop Christopher Chessun, together with the Dean of Southwark, Very Rev. Andrew Nunn, and Canon Richard. The pilgrimage will visit Jerusalem, Bethlehem & Galilee.

The cathedral has a defibrillator which is kept at the sacristy office. It is important that in the case of someone needing assistance everyone is aware that there is one located in the building.

‘Prayer & Pub’ Evening

SVP Food Bank Collection

Our St Vincent de Paul Society is continuing to work with the Waterloo Foodbank to collect food for local people in crisis. Collection baskets are at the back of the Cathedral. Please see the posters at the back of the Cathedral for more details.

Becoming a Catholic

If you would like to know more about the Catholic Church with a view to becoming a Catholic, a programme of instruction is running on a Sunday morning at 10am in Amigo Hall.  You have been thinking about this for some time, or are already a Catholic but for whatever reason were never confirmed.  Perhaps a friend or family member may like to be invited to join the programme.

Young Adults Group

St Vincent De Paul Group

We have a small but enthusiastic group of parishioners who work together to help those in need - the lonely and isolated or those who don't have enough food to eat or even a home to live in.  You could help this vital work by joining the parish SVP group and giving a little of your time to helping others.  Call 07716 533621 to find out more.

St George’s Cathedral Choirs CD

The CD recording produced by our Cathedral Choirs is now available. Entitled: “O Sacrum Convivium - Music for the Mass”, it features our Girls’ Choir, Boys’ Choir, Choral Scholars and Lay Clerks.  It costs £12 per CD.  The CDs are available to buy in the repository after the 10am and 11.30am Masses, where payment is accepted by cash and cheque.  The CDs can also be ordered online using a credit or debit card by clicking here:
