Cathedral Carol Service

Archbishop Peter will preside at the  Cathedral Carol Service on Thursday 13 December at 7.30pm.  During the service we will be saying farewell to Norman Harper our Director of Music who retires at the end of the year. It is followed by refreshments in Amigo Hall.  All are warmly invited.

Cathedral Choir Christmas CD

The Cathedral Choirs have produced a CD of Christmas music entitled: Christmas at St George’s.  It costs £12 and is available to buy from the repository after the 10am and 11.30am Masses and online here:


Christmas Organ Concert

Norman Harper will be giving his last recital at St George’s Cathedral on Saturday 15 December at 11am.  The music will be Olivier Messiaen’s beautiful and evocative Christmas meditations: La Nativité du Seigneur. Admission is free and all are welcome. The concert lasts approximately 50 minutes.

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration takes place in the Day Chapel Friday starting at 8am, and ending with simple Benediction at 6pm. There will be no adoration on Saturday 15 December as there is an organ concert.

Advent is a very special season of the year – and yet it can sometimes pass us by, because we’re so busy preparing for Christmas.  For the past couple of years, our diocesan Spirituality Commission has produced a series of short daily emails, to help us focus on the true meaning of Advent. SVP Food Bank Collection

Thank you for your continuing support of the Waterloo Food Bank and the many individuals and families in need in our parish and local area.  As Christmas approaches the need will be even greater.  The SVP are able to make referrals and issue vouchers in confidence to the Food Bank and we have done so regularly over the past year.  Do you know of anyone or any family who might welcome this support?  Perhaps you are in temporary need yourself?
We are able to issue vouchers in confidence.  To access this help you can:

- Contact any member of the SVP (see SVP poster at back of the cathedral)

Becoming a Catholic

If you would like to know more about the Catholic Church with a view to becoming a Catholic, a programme of instruction is running on a Sunday morning at 10am in Amigo Hall.  You have been thinking about this for some time, or are already a Catholic but for whatever reason were never confirmed.  Perhaps a friend or family member may like to be invited to join the programme.

St George’s Cathedral Catholic Primary School

If your child was born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015, they should start primary school in September 2019. St. George’s Cathedral Primary School have open days for prospective parents on the following dates;
Wednesday 14 November at 10am
Wednesday 12 December at 10am

Young Adults Group

St Vincent De Paul Group

We have a small but enthusiastic group of parishioners who work together to help those in need - the lonely and isolated or those who don't have enough food to eat or even a home to live in.  You could help this vital work by joining the parish SVP group and giving a little of your time to helping others.  Call 07716 533621 to find out more.

Appointment of new Director of Music

The Dean of St George's Cathedral, Southwark is delighted to announce that Jonathan Schranz has been appointed to be the Cathedral Director of Music with effect from January 2019.
Canon Richard Hearn says, "Jonathan will bring a great deal to the role and I am confident that he will build upon the great work that his predecessor Norman Harper has done both in developing the choir and enhancing the music tradition at St George's Cathedral".

Our Director of Music, Norman Harper, will be retiring from his post at the end of the year. Norman has done a tremendous amount to develop the music at St George's for which we are extremely grateful. There will be an opportunity to formally thank Norman towards the end of the year.

St George’s Cathedral Choirs CD

The CD recording produced by our Cathedral Choirs is now available. Entitled: “O Sacrum Convivium - Music for the Mass”, it features our Girls’ Choir, Boys’ Choir, Choral Scholars and Lay Clerks.  It costs £12 per CD.  The CDs are available to buy in the repository after the 10am and 11.30am Masses, where payment is accepted by cash and cheque.  The CDs can also be ordered online using a credit or debit card by clicking here:
