The Rite of Election will take place in the cathedral on Saturday 17 February and there will be no 12.30pm Mass or lunchtime confessions.  

Stations of the Cross

There will be Stations of the Cross on each Sunday of Lent at 5pm starting on 18 February.

Weekday Evening Mass for Lent

From Monday 19 February until Friday 23 March there will be a Mass at 6pm in the Day Chapel.

CAFOD Lent Fast Day

The CAFOD Lent Fast Day is on Friday 23 February. There will be a speaker from CAFOD at all Masses this weekend.

First Holy Communion

Parents are reminded that there is a Parents Meeting on Thursday 1 March 2018 at 7pm Amigo Hall Upstairs Room.  Please note it is not necessary to bring your children to this meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to prepare our children for First Confession on Saturday 3 March and to raise any possible concerns at this midway point in the course.

SVP Food Bank Collection – Do Something for Lent.

Our St Vincent de Paul Society continues to work with the Waterloo Foodbank to collect food for local people in crisis.  As part of your Lenten penance why not deny yourself something and buy some food to donate to this worthwhile appeal.  Collection baskets are at the back of the cathedral. 

Landings Lecture 2018

Dr Austen Ivereigh, papal biographer and Catholic Voices co-founder will address the subject: ‘Close and Concrete: Pope Francis on how to Evangelise in a World in Flux’  on Tuesday 6 March at 7pm in Farm Street Church Hall, 114 Mount St, London W1K 3AH.  Mass in the church at 6pm; buffet reception to follow.  All most welcome

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration will be on Friday from 8am, ending with Benediction at 5.45pm. This will be followed by Mass at 6pm. There is usually Adoration on Saturday mornings: 10am until 12.15pm.

Young Adults Group

We are going to start a Young Adults Group for those who are aged between 18 and 35-ish!  A meeting will take place in the Amigo Hall on Sunday 18th February after the 6pm Mass (1st Sunday of Lent).  If you would like to join the group or just find out more, please come along and feel free to invite a friend.  In the meantime, if you have any ideas, suggestions or would just like to chat about it please email Fr Paul on frpaul@stgeorges.org.uk who will be delighted to hear from you.

St Vincent De Paul Group

We have a small but enthusiastic group of parishioners who work together to help those in need - the lonely and isolated or those who don't have enough food to eat or even a home to live in.  You could help this vital work by joining the parish SVP group and giving a little of your time to helping others.  Call 07716 533621 to find out more.

St George’s Cathedral Choirs CD

The CD recording produced by our Cathedral Choirs is now available. Entitled: “O Sacrum Convivium - Music for the Mass”, it features our Girls’ Choir, Boys’ Choir, Choral Scholars and Lay Clerks.  It costs £12 per CD.  The CDs are available to buy in the repository after the 10am and 11.30am Masses, where payment is accepted by cash and cheque.  The CDs can also be ordered online using a credit or debit card by clicking here:

Adoremus - Eucharist in the Life of the Church: Liverpool 7-9 September 2018

The bishops of England and Wales will hold a National Eucharistic Pilgrimage and Congress in Liverpool on 7-9 September.  The purpose of it is to promote an awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Church.  Although only a small number from the diocese will be able to attend it is hoped that many will be involved through preparation and post congress events.  More details are at the back of the cathedral.
