Lent Course - Bishop Robert Baron's Course on The Mass

Commencing this Monday 18th March in the Amigo Hall Upstairs at 6.45 pm and continuing for 5 weeks we will be delivering Bishop Robert Baron's course on The Mass.  This course will present in an interesting and exciting way what the Mass is all about, where it comes from in our salvation history and why it is so important to us and our faith.  Going forward you will come to appreciate how magnificent the celebration of the Mass really is and what a great gift it is to us all.  If you require further details, please email: frpaul@stgeorges.org.uk

Evening Mass & Stations of the Cross

During Lent there will be an additional Mass at 6pm each weekday evening and Stations of the Cross every Sunday evening at 5pm.

Ecumenical Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

On 3-10 March 2020 Southwark Cathedral and St George's Cathedral will make a joint pilgrimage to the Holy Land. It will be led by Bishop Paul Hendricks and the Anglican Bishop of Southwark, Bishop Christopher Chessun, together with the Dean of Southwark, Very Rev. Andrew Nunn, and Canon Richard. The pilgrimage will visit Jerusalem, Bethlehem & Galilee.

Tenor Lay Clerk Vacancy

A vacancy has arisen for a Tenor Lay Clerk to join the Cathedral Choir at St George's from May 2019 or soon after. Nine professional lay clerks form the Alto, Tenor and Bass sections of the professional Cathedral Choir which leads worship each Sunday at 11.30am Solemn Mass. The deadline for applications is Sunday 31 March 2019. Full details and job spec available here.

SLU Catholic Chaplaincy

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration usually takes place in the Day Chapel every Friday starting at 8am, ending with simple Benediction at 6pm. There is also Adoration from 10am until 12.15pm on Saturday morning.

Defibrillator

The cathedral has a defibrillator which is kept at the sacristy office. It is important that in the case of someone needing assistance everyone is aware that there is one located in the building

Cathedral Choirs

The Cathedral Choirs are recruiting young singers aged between 7 and 17. If your son or daughter would like to be involved please contact Jonathan Schranz, the Cathedral Director of Music, on jonathans@stgeorges.org.uk to arrange an audition.

‘Prayer & Pub’ Evening

SVP Food Bank Collection

Our St Vincent de Paul Society is continuing to work with the Waterloo Foodbank to collect food for local people in crisis. Collection baskets are at the back of the Cathedral. Please see the posters at the back of the Cathedral for more details.

Cathedral Choir Christmas CD

Becoming a Catholic

If you would like to know more about the Catholic Church with a view to becoming a Catholic, a programme of instruction is running on a Sunday morning at 10am in Amigo Hall.  You have been thinking about this for some time, or are already a Catholic but for whatever reason were never confirmed.  Perhaps a friend or family member may like to be invited to join the programme.

Young Adults Group

St Vincent De Paul Group

We have a small but enthusiastic group of parishioners who work together to help those in need - the lonely and isolated or those who don't have enough food to eat or even a home to live in.  You could help this vital work by joining the parish SVP group and giving a little of your time to helping others.  Call 07716 533621 to find out more.

St George’s Cathedral Choirs CD

The CD recording produced by our Cathedral Choirs is now available. Entitled: “O Sacrum Convivium - Music for the Mass”, it features our Girls’ Choir, Boys’ Choir, Choral Scholars and Lay Clerks.  It costs £12 per CD.  The CDs are available to buy in the repository after the 10am and 11.30am Masses, where payment is accepted by cash and cheque.  The CDs can also be ordered online using a credit or debit card by clicking here:
